These reviews are based on my own experience and customers’ recommendations.
1) Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot –Best Pop a Shot Basketball Game
Pop-A-Shot is one of the pioneers and best manufacturers when it comes to basketball arcade games. From the cheapest to the expensive products, name what they did not provide to the basketball lovers.
I bought Home Dual Shot last year after getting introduced to it at a friend’s party. I have to admit that this one is expensive, however, I was surprised by its quality when it got home.
Overall construction is solid due to 1 ½” steel tubing being powder-coated to prevent rusting. Connecting these tubes with each other is simple and the durability of connecting pins is up to the mark. The height is adjustable from 7 feet to 9 feet. While adjusting its height you would have to remove the screws and nylon ramp. You can store it easily in your garage as the basketball arcade folds up to the depth of 37” from 88”.
The overall design is constructed light-weight and incorporates wheels on the frame back to make its maneuver easy. Besides that, I noticed the quality of nylon fabric remained remarkable even after several washes.
Unlike cheap arcade basketball games, Home Dual Shot Arcade comes with a heavier and thicker backboard. Due to this, you can shoot again and again without being worried about the breakage of the backboard. With this quality backboard, the shots feel more realistic and fun.
It comes with 7” mini basketballs which are cool but I would have preferred the regular-sized basketballs. Yet it feels similar to the regular ones except for the bounce. These mini basketballs are basically made for shooting and to roll down on the ramp.
One feature that fascinated me the most is its thick metal rim. Most of the low price basketball arcades used cheap material for making the rims that results in bending of it. However, with Home Dual Shot Arcade you can shoot without being stressed over it.
Moreover the motion sensors are quite precise. It comes with 10 different games and 6 audio options. You can change the game modes with the control panel as per your desire.
The only flaw I’ve noticed over time is the velcro strap that keeps the nylon ramp in place. The velcro strap tends to get detached over time so I tied the two velcro straps together. It prevents the balls from bouncing over the netted area.
On the price side, the Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot is a bit expensive but I must mention that you would get the best of your money. The quality of this basketball arcade is remarkable even I didn’t expect it until I got my hands on it. Besides the customer service is great as I had to contact them due to the motion sensors not working accurately. I just sent an email explaining the situation and they sent me the replacement the very next day.
2) Pop A Shot Dual Shot Sport – Best Indoor Basketball Game
This one is the younger brother of Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot but I must say manufacturers retained their quality despite lowering the price. There are some minor differences from the flagship product but it won’t keep much of the fun away.
Said that the construction is solid as 1 ½ steel tubing is being used with powder coating to make sure the frame is sturdy and protected from rusting. Here the highlight is its dual LED three-digit scoreboard that can be powered either by batteries or AC. It’s better to provide AC while playing or else you will lose the score due to low battery in the middle of the game.
As the Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot has 10 games for the enthusiasts, this arcade basketball also has 10 games so you can enjoy the best out of it without spending much as compared to the previous one. It includes head-to-head games as well as a solo so you can enjoy either way. There are only 4 balls that come with it, which is not much in my opinion. However, you can buy as many balls as you like with it for not many dollars. It also contains a pump for inflating the balls.
The height of the arcade game is 81″ that can be shrunk into just 29″. So you can easily store it at the side of your room when not playing. Even if this model does not have wheels yet it is easy to maneuver due to its lightweight of just 44 lbs.
Another feature that makes me excited is its excellent audio with 6 options. It includes 3 music choices, special sound effects of a crowd cheering up and basketball swishes, and the voice of the announcer who calls the game.
The overall construction is quite sturdy, especially its backboard. You can shoot again and again without breaking it. The nylon ramp is thick and provides a better glide for the basketball.
Its motion sensors are pretty accurate and well synchronized with the 3-digit scoreboard. The only drawback (which is not actually a drawback for me) is the assembly. It does take a while and patience for assembling but in the end, it’s definitely worth it!
On the price side, I must say that you will get some premium features from a top brand at a lower price. However, if your budget can stretch a bit, you should consider the flagship model Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot (no.1 on the list).
3) Saturnpower Shot Creator – Budget-Friendly Indoor Basketball Arcade Game
Despite lowering the prices Saturnpower Shot still provides some premium features like a powder-coated tubing frame. The powder coating protects the frame from rusting. However, to save cost they used 0.86’’ steel instead of a 1.5’’ steel frame. Still, it is durable enough to bear recurrent shoots and the weight is less than other arcade games so you can move it easily.
Said that the Saturnpower Shot has a dual LED-display scoreboard (powered by batteries) to accurately calculate the total points. Besides this, the motion sensor synchronized 99% accurately with the scoreboard. This feature ensures fair play in head-to-head games.
This arcade basketball supports 8 different types of games to make sure that you enjoy every bit of your time spent on it. The audio effects are also very cool and it has a buzzer that provides some realistic arcade sounds. There are three audio options that create more excitement for players.
The assembly is easy and it can be folded to save space while you are not playing. Despite the lower prices, the manufacturers retain the dual shot so you can compete with your family or friends. There are 4 balls that come with it which makes sense as the prices are comparatively lower than the premium versions. However, you can buy more balls for more smooth play.
By the same token, the backboard is 0.35’’ thick rather than 0.5’’ but it can bear the shoots pretty well without breakage. Besides, the total length and width are also a few inches less than other dual shot arcades that result in the collision of players during the game. But I must say getting most of the premium features at such a low price are worth buying especially if you are not sure of how much the game will get used.
Overall the package in terms of price and the features you will get is best. If your kids are not physically active, this arcade game will prove to be the saviour. Since you will get the top brand featured arcade game at lower prices.
4)Rally Roar Classic Shootout – Best Electronic Basketball Game
The Rally Roar Classic is wider than previously listed arcade games so there is less chance of bumping into each other while playing head-to-head games. It allows you to shoot the basketball into hoops with a variety of angles. Moreover, the Rally Roar Classic does not cost much as compared to the previous models.
Overall construction is solid since the frame is made up of 1.5’’ steel tubes that are rust-proof. That’s why this arcade is durable enough and stands well for a long time. The feature that most fascinates me is the backboard. The creators made the backboard sturdy enough as it is double-laminated and 0.5’’ thick. This enables you to shoot the basketball without stressing over the breakage of the backboard.
The ball ramp is made up of double stitched cloth that provides maximum strength to it and a smooth slide for the basketball. This arcade game is definitely a bit heavy as compared to the previous models as it is a bit wider than them. Its weight is about 50 lbs but you can move it easily with the help of one of your friends.
It folds up into 38’’ from 91’’ that saves up space so you can easily place it in the side of your room after playing. The electronic scoreboard with a dual-LED display is powered by only batteries. In my opinion, at this price, there should be an AC-supported scoreboard however it is not a big deal.
The only drawback I’ve noticed is the audio effect. There is not much variety in sounds but it has a buzzer and some basic sounds. It obviously doesn’t give the arcade feel like others however this is not a deal-breaker.
There are 8 types of different games that the players can enjoy with 7 balls for a smooth play. On the price side, the Rally Road Classic is cheaper than other models with some premium features.
5) Lifetime 90648 Double Shot Deluxe– Basketball Game For Basement
If you like the previously mentioned Arcade dual shot game due to its size and height then you will definitely gonna love this Lifetime 90648 Double Shot Deluxe since it is wider than Rally Roar Classic.
The feature of this model that I found the most amazing is its height adjustability (84’’ to 90’’). You can adjust the height according to the height of the room ceiling or the players whether kids or adults.
Lifetime company is well known for making durable portable outdoor basketball hoops. This increases my expectations regarding the quality and durability of this dual-shot game. And as always the creators did not disappoint their customers.
The frame is well constructed and sturdy enough as it is made up of 1.5’’ or 1.75’’ thick steel poles with powder coating to prevent it from rusting. The backboard is also made up of MDF with 0.5’’ thickness. It enables the dual shot arcade to stand well before the countless shots.
Due to its solid construction, the weight is a bit heavier than other models- almost 85 lbs. So you would need some help in maneuvering after assembling it. However, you can store it easily anywhere since it can fold up to 41’’ deep from 90’’. This saves space and you can store it at the side of your room when you finish playing. But if you do have not much space then you should consider other options.
Its electronic scoreboard is supported by both batteries and AC as well. It makes sure that you won’t lose the score while playing. Another feature that fascinates me is the infrared sensors rather than cheaper paddle sensors. This indicates the quality of the product and builds trust in the company.
Most of the arcade games only include 10 types of game modes but Lifetime takes it a step further by adding 12 game modes. This addition will tie up the players for a longer period of time with more fun. You can play solo, competitively, or with multi-players to make it more enjoyable with family or friends.
The height adjustability is the unique feature that makes it stand out amongst other models. You can easily adjust the height of the front lower bar (35’’, 31.5’’, or 28’’ high) according to the size of different age kids or adults. The front lower bar adjustment helps to reach and pick up the ball more easily at any height that suits them best.
This dual shot game has some cool audio effects with volume control. So whenever you grow tired of high volume, you can adjust it as you like. It includes 6 balls that are not enough for a smooth play for two players in my opinion. However, you can buy additional balls separately.
6) Pop A Shot Home Single Shot– Best Home Basketball Arcade Game
The Pop A Shot Home Single Shot is another amazing arcade game from the original inventors of indoor basketball games. It has similar features of the dual shot sport however it’s a bit narrower (30’’ wide) than the dual one since it is a single shot sport for solo players.
Just like the Dual Shot Sport, it has an electronic scoreboard powered by both batteries and AC. AC ensures that you never lose the score while playing if the battery goes down. Besides, the scoreboard shows 3 digits so you can easily count your high scores in 100s.
Overall construction is solid- the frame is made up of 1.5’’ thick steel poles with a powder coating for protection from rusting. Moreover, the backboard is also constructed well with 0.5’’ thick MDF. This prevents the backboard from chipping and breaking even after recurrent shots over years.
Audio quality is also very good and there are 6 audio options including 3 music choices, sound effects of realistic crowd noises, and the announcer’s voice who calls the game.
The Single Shot folds up to 36’’ deep from 88’’ to save space and you can place it at the side of your room when not in use. However, it takes more space after folding than the Dual Shot Sport, which seems to me a bit odd. Besides the weight is not much (42 lbs) so you can easily maneuver it anywhere.
There are only 6 different games included in it but the missing ones are just for Dual play. So you can enjoy all the solo games without missing out on any fun despite the fewer games. Similarly, it includes only 4 balls but these are enough to continue a smooth game for single player.
Buying Guide – What You Should Look For Best Basketball Arcade Game?
Here I will discuss some main features that you should look for while buying the best basketball arcade game.
All the dual arcade games include 7’’ diameter mini basketball which is smaller than standard size balls i.e. 9.5’’ diameter. An ideal number of balls for a dual shot game is 6-8 since it takes less time in returning balls and allows more smooth play.
Premium arcade games include 6 to 8 balls or more but the cheaper ones come with less balls-mostly 4 balls. It causes hindrance in dual shot play especially when one of them goes flat.
However, you can buy some additional balls separately to make the numbers up to 8 balls. Since all brands manufacture the same-sized balls but differ in quality, I recommend you to buy from premium brands and original inventors of arcade games like Pop A Shot.
Since these dual shot games bear a lot of abuse over the years the material should be of premium quality but within the budget for it to last long.
1) Frame –
The top brand uses 1.5’’ steel with powder coating for constructing the frame. The powder coating prevents the steel frame from rusting or chipping. Thicker steel proves to be more strong and used in premium and medium games.
However, the thicker steel is the heavier one. That’s why you should keep in mind that they are more difficult to move around while not playing.
2) Backboard –
Usually, backboards are made up of MDF (medium density fiberboard) because it is cheap material with good impact, shock, and heat resistance.
0.5’’ thickness is ideal in backboards as thicker backboards are less likely to break over time.
3) Side netting and Ball Ramp –
Nylon is the best material for ramps as it is stronger and flexible with more durability.
There are some main things to consider:
- If you regularly fold up the game after playing then you should look for the light frame material and the game that can be folded up more deeply. But the lighter material might be less durable.
- If you are looking for a height-adjustable game then you should consider push buttons and multiple holes along with the frame height. Extra braces would help in extra stability after the desired height is attained.
- Assembling the frame should be easy. Usually, it takes up to 1-2 hours however an extra pair of hands would be great.
There are basically two types of sensors in electronic scoreboards- infrared and paddle.
Infrared sensors can sense the shots through the backboard rather than direct hits like paddle sensors. That’s why paddle sensors are more likely to get damaged on recurrent direct hits.
Infrared sensors are preferred due to their accuracy however both sensors can have a 98% accuracy rate.
Usually, all indoor basketball games include 6 to 16 different types of game options. Look for the one you like because there is no point in buying the one that does not include the game you like.
Besides, if you like sound effects then you should go for the one that has good quality and more realistic sound effects like Pop A Shot Models.
Hoops / Baskets:
If you are buying an indoor arcade game for your kids of different ages or adults then you should go for the one that is easy in height adjustments.
Besides if you want to practice your shots on your own then the single hoop arcade game will be sufficient. Game for an arcade with 3 or 4 hoops are more versatile and it’s not a good option to place them in the room.
All of the above-listed products are the best in their own league but if you want my opinion I would recommend you these three Best Basketball Arcade Games:
- Pop-A-Shot Home Dual Shot – Best Pop a Shot Basketball Game (Premium)
- Saturnpower Shot Creator – Budget-Friendly Indoor Basketball Arcade Game
- Pop A Shot Home Single Shot– Best Home Basketball Arcade Game
